New Year, new detox!
Looking to do a detox or cleanse? After eating and drinking my way through a busy holiday season and since stopping breastfeeding (before the silly season) I have steadily been gaining weight (my body needs to re-adjust to not needing as much food to sustain itself).
I have been looking around at my options but I am super picky so have opted to research to find what would be suitable to me. I have come across two but I am torn.. do I follow a transformational juice cleanse or go on the path of a possibly more sustaining food cleanse but with prep work. Either way, I think 5 days is plenty and I am wondering how I will achieve this.
I do know I will need to be at home and have some sort of routine and structure. And from what I can gather I will need to take it easy depending on the type of cleanse I begin.
As always, before any cleanse or detox you should consult your doctor.
A bit more info..
Detoxing can be great, in particular for me I am looking to eliminate toxins from my body, especially the liver, best liver function can help support my body and mind and lead to a better sleeping environment.
Goop is promoting 'The Annual 5-Day Detox'. Inspired by Dr. Alejandro Junger's basic elimination diet some of the big hitters to eliminate include, caffeine (shock horror - this is always last to go on my list), alcohol, dairy, gluten, white rice and eggs. You then follow a free and delicious food plan (including shopping list and recipes). You can check it out here.
Sol Cleanse has a variety of organic cleanses. As a beginner I am leaning towards the Level 1 Lighten Up Cleanse that includes organic cold-pressed juice, nut milks, green smoothies and Dahl. You can select the number of days but after reading several reviews I feel it would be best to just complete a 3 day cleanse and see if this would be sufficient for me (here).
Excerpt from Sol Cleanse:
'A transformational whole being cleanse to service the deepest parts of you: organic nourishment, daily cleanse meditations, rituals, guided mindfulness activity workbooks & movement.'
Now to decide which one.
Who else has done or is starting off the New Year with a cleanse or detox? Which one would you choose?
